• Multi-channel MAC protocol for WLANs and multihop ad hoc networks

  • Proposed a power-saving multi-radio multi-channel MAC protocol for WLANs.

  • Co-developed a dual-channel MAC protocol for mobile ad hoc networks.

• Using directional antennas in WLANs and multihop ad hoc networks

  • Designed a MAC protocol to enhance the Performance of WLANs with Multibeam Access Point.

  • Developed MAC protocols to fully utilize directional antennas in wireless ad hoc networks, with and without synchronization, respectively.

  • Studied interference-constrained maximum flow in wireless mesh networks with directional antennas.

• Utilizing channel diversity in WLANs and multihop ad hoc networks

  • Proposed a cross-layer approach to utilizing cooperative diversity for multi-hop packet forwarding.

  • Proposed an opportunistic scheduling algorithm to exploit multiuser diversity in distributed manner.

• Support real-time applications in WLANs and mobile broadband access systems

  • Developed a joint transmission scheduling and rate shaping algorithm for scalable video over IEEE 802.16e.

  • Co-designed an adaptive bursty transmission scheme for IEEE 802.11n.

  • Co-developed an accurate analytical model to evaluate the unsaturated performance of IEEE 802.11 with bursty transmission.
